#1 Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit
& Gas Recovery Plant
The #1 Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (#1 FCCU), Unit 12, is a UOP stack type configuration unit, and over the years it has been upgraded with the addition of more modern technological designs such as reactor and regenerator internals, riser injection nozzles, etc.
The predominant equipment age is from the initial 1958 installation and the subsequent 1964 revamp. The unit was revamped again in 1995 to allow for processing small percentages of high quality residues with predominant VGO feedstocks. A new riser termination device was added in 2002 as part of low sulfur gasoline modifications. In addition, the main fractionator column, overheads drum, overheads condensers and liquid product pumps were replaced. In the gas recovery plant the Absorber/Deethanizer column was replaced, and other modifications included new Debutanizer tower internals, multiple pump upgrades and an addition of a new heavy cat naphtha recycle system.
The unit has a single motor driven 3600 HP main air blower, installed in 1958. The gas recovery plant wet gas compressors are two original 450 HP two-stage reciprocating machines, which have been supplemented with a newer 900 HP two stage reciprocating machine during a later revamp. The unit capacity is 14,000 BPSD of fresh VGO feedstocks.
The #1 Gas Recovery Plant (#1 GRP), Unit 13, associated with #1 FCCU's designed to process both saturated and unsaturated feeds. The #1 GRP receives feeds from the #1 FCCU, #1 CDU and #1 CRU.
