The CDU-2 was designed and built in 1967 in conjunction with the NHT/Platformer units.  CDU-2 is designed to process 42,000 bpsd.   The desalter, rated at 50,000 b/d was installed in 1972 to enable the unit to process lower quality crudes.  The crude charge heater was replaced in 1991 with a larger heater, which improved distillate capacity of the unit by 4000 b/d.   A preflash tower was added to the unit in 1998, which increased the overall distillate capacity of the unit to 27,000 b/d.
