Merox Treating Units

There are currently three (3) UOP licensed Merox units located within the plot plan of CDU-2. The units consist of:

5,500 b/d Jet/Kero Merox

6,000 b/d Jet/Kero Merox

10,000 b/d LSRN Merox

The 5,500 b/d and the 6,000 b/d Jet/Kero Merox units were originally designed and constructed in 1969 and 1988 respectively. The 10,000 b/d LSRN Merox unit was designed and constructed in 1994. The unit is designed to sweeten the LSRN removing the mercaptan sulfur prior to sending the LSRN to the gasoline blending pool. An unused LSRN Merox reactor is located in the onsite laydown yard.

A Merichem caustic regeneration system was installed in 1998 to meet environmental compliance.
