Distillate Desulfurizer Unit (DDS)
Most of the equipment in this unit is from the 1960’s. The low pressure separator drum which was replaced in 1978. The unit was also revamped in 1995 with the addition of a third charge pump to its existing capacity of 6,800 KPSD. A new reactor and hydrogen compressor were installed in 1998. The reactor vessel is 4.3’ diameter by 78’ high, rated at a design pressure of 883 psig, chrome-moly with 347 stainless lining metallurgy and has 3 catalyst beds. The reactor is installed in a new bolted support structure. Unit pressure is still constrained at approximately 750 psig by the reactor products high-pressure separator design. The fired heater 17H1 is a combined fresh feed and stripper reboiler heater rated at 10 MMBTU/hr and of twin cabin type construction. The dry stripper is a 20-tray column with a bottoms recirculation reboiler. Click here for process description
