Edmonton Refinery - Plant 1
Atmospheric Crude Fractionation Unit
|
The atmospheric crude fractionation unit is designed to process 80,000 BPD of light western Canadian crude oil. The primary functions of the crude unit are to remove impurities such as salts / solids and to separate the crude into fractions for further processing. Fractions include an overhead product of distillate and lighter materials (cold charge and hot charge) which are sent to the bulk desulphurizer unit (Plant 2) and then the saturated gas plant (Plant 4), a side draw of atmospheric gas oil which is sent to the fluid catalytic cracking unit (Plant 8), and a bottom product of reduced crude which is sent to the vacuum distillation unit (Plant 7).
