Straight Run Gas Plant/Unit 23 (SRGP)

The Straight Run Gas Plant processes light ends gases and LPG from #1 CDU, #2 CDU, and #2 CRU, producing propane, butanes and fuel gas.  The unit consists of an amine absorber, caustic wash and water wash columns, followed by two product separation columns.

The feed stream is charged to the Straight Run LPG absorber it is contacted countercurrently with lean amine to remove hydrogen sulphides, then routed through the Caustic wash column to remove any remaining trace sulphides.  The residual caustic is removed by water washing in a Water wash column.  The treated stream is charged to the Deethanizer where light ends are removed and routed to the fuel gas system.  The bottoms stream is charged to the C3/C4 Splitter where it is separated into Propane and Butanes.  The Propane product is routed to the storage area for sales.  The butanes are used as  feed to the Alkylation unit or as a gasoline blending component.
